Qualifications & experience

  • Experience working in a leadership role in an Indigenous ranger program
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in cross-cultural environments
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to emerging, unplanned issues
  • Conservation and Land Management or Cultural Heritage or other relevant qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Continue the delivery of the Djurrubu Ranger Program with a view to securing Indigenous Rangers - Working on Country funding
  • Coordinate and oversee the Djurrubu Indigenous Rangers, including development of work programs, schedules for training, field trips and various other activities and projects
  • Lead, mentor and support the Djurrubu Indigenous Rangers, including identification of training needs and facilitating training opportunities mentoring, and team development
  • Proactively manage, document, monitor and maintain GAC and Djurrubu Indigenous Rangers assets including infrastructure, plant and equipment
  • In consultation with other GAC management, identify opportunities for funding, prepare funding proposals, and liaise with government and non-government agencies
