Corporate Services teams at Metro are responsible for providing essential support services that enable the business to function efficiently and effectively. From Safety and People, Marketing and Communication, to Finance and Legal, and IT. Our Corporate Services teams work collaboratively to ensure that the business operates smoothly and as one team.

About the role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Human Factors & Systems Integration Lead to lead the human factors integration activities for change management activities across the wider Metro business. You’ll support the operating and maintenance parts of the business in applying human factors and systems thinking from delivery through to post-implementation for franchise-level change.

This role will play a key part in supporting the business with a systems approach to identifying and managing risk influenced by human performance.

Please note this is a fixed term opportunity of 10 months with flexible working options available

  • You’ll provide applied HF analysis and advice on the delivery and post implementation stages of project, change activities and network strategy reviews with a lens around human factors and systems thinking;
  • You’ll ensure that human factors impacts at a system level are captured and integrated into design and change decision-making and provide evidence-based advice on addressing identified HF risk;
  • You’ll manage, verify and validate human factors requirements to align with system integration and system engineering approaches;
  • You’ll ensure technical input is provided to inform hazard and risk analysis, design and other technical and user-reference working groups regarding human factors and system level changes;
  • You’ll monitor, manage and advise on human factors priorities based on HFI analyses and business critical and material risks, including at a strategic business level;
  • You’ll develop and conduct training and awareness-raising activities related to HF and systems thinking; and
  • You’ll actively work towards continuous improvement and change initiatives for improving HFI across the business, with a focus on integrating requirements and lessons from past projects into the development of future change activities.

About you

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Systems Engineering, Organisational Psychology or a related field.
  • Have a strong understanding or experience within HF Engineering, HF Integration, HF Assurance, Systems Engineering, Change Management.
  • In addition, knowledge of relevant HF standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (OHS Act) and Rail Safety National Law and Regulations.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the application of HF methods and knowledge in one or more of the following industries: rail, aviation, resources, energy, mining and/or resources.
  • Experience in delivering and influencing HF and change activities to meet project and business outcomes, particularly in the delivery phase of HF and systems integration activities and with respect to requirements management.
