Environmental Services Advisor

What you’ll do: 

  • Provide timely and accurate specialist environmental advice and recommendations on WaterNSW’s environmental issues, delivery of management plans, environmental management system requirements, policies and procedures to WaterNSW staff, local government and contractors.
  • Undertake inspections and audits to ensure compliance with environmental approvals, management plan objectives and advise on management and mitigation of environmental risks and hazards.
  • Liaise and negotiate with staff, contractors and consultants in relation to the technical and other information required to support a range of environmental activity types to meet legislation obligations and project approval conditions.
  • Support the development, assessment and revision of environmental policies, plans and procedures relevant to legislative requirements and responsibilities.
  • Undertake environmental process health checks (environmental audits) of relevant WaterNSW activities and documentation, identify non-conformances and recommended actions and implement corrective actions, change and closure of non-conformances in a collaborative manner.

What we are looking for:  

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Planning/Science/Assessment/Management/Law, Natural Resource Management, Planning, or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience in providing advice on environmental matters including compliance with relevant statutory approvals, licences, permits and authorisations.
  • Experience in the on-site application of regulatory and organisational environmental policies, systems and procedures and providing recommendations for mitigating adverse environmental effects.
  • Specialist knowledge relating to environmental legislation, standards, environmental compliance.
  • Highly developed personal skills in time management, organisation and improved environmental outcomes.
  • Effective verbal communication to lead and influence stakeholders and staff toward a culture of continuous improvement in environmental performance and exceptional written communication.
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Favourable to have experience in development of environmental training and awareness materials (online and in person) to achieve best practice environmental outcomes.
