Principal Science Technician

As the Principal Science Technician you will:

Support scientific diagnostic and pharmaceutical services by providing high-level technical specialist services and advice to work unit, business area and external stakeholders. Where relevant this may include providing timely, high level, expert and authoritative advice on policy and legislative issues and suggesting solutions to complex problems based on rigorous analysis of relevant information. This may include:

  • Oversee a specialist’s functional area as detailed within the code of GMP, Quality control or production supervisor.
  • Manufacture and distribution of effective and efficient quality assured product to meet industry demand on time, within budget.
  • Document and report QA breaches through to a satisfactory resolution with appropriate implementation of deviation, change control, out of specification, corrective and preventative action, and non-conformance processes.
  • Ensure adherence to document control.
  • Provide specialist advice and assistance to the Laboratories Manager, General Manager and CVO as necessary.
  • Laboratory procedures in a pharmaceutical clean room environment involved in the processing of vaccine and other biological products.
  • Overseeing and leading and participating in the investigation of complaints related to the quality of the product.
  • Recording and documenting data using defined systems and methods.
  • Maintain currency in NATA/ GMP/ APVMA requirements.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Biological Science from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent academic qualifications
  • Experience in conducting root cause investigations within GMP/NATA accredited facilities.
  • Experience in leadership and managing teams
  • Participation in an on-call roster and out-of-hours work may be required
  • Vaccination or immunity to Q Fever will be mandatory. Commitment to obtain vaccination or evidence of prior vaccination will be required prior to starting this position.
