An opportunity has arisen to join our casual pool for the After Hours Nurse Manager position at Macquarie Hospital. The position holder must have excellent communication skills, advanced clinical decision making skills, the ability to confidently and competently take the lead in critical incidents, have demonstrated high level mental health nursing skills and to oversee the operational management of Macquarie Hospital after hours.

What you'll be doing

The Nurse Manager provides leadership and direction in the organisation to ensure the delivery of best practice nursing, individual focused care and the management and organisation of the service.

Employees must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct. Criminal record checks will be undertaken on successful applicants and applicants for positions designated as Category A will be required to obtain required vaccinations prior to commencing employment.?

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Registered Nurse Division 1 with relevant post-graduate management qualification, working towards or equivalent extensive experience..
  3. Extensive post registration experience in the management and leadership in mental health clinical service delivery.
  4. Previous successful management of service development change, quality processes and financial resources.
  5. Highly developed communication skills with the ability to use critical thinking skills in problem solving.
  6. Effective negotiation and conflict management skills with the ability to motivate staff and maintain effective relationships.
  7. Proven commitment to the principles and practices of consumer collaboration and working in a multidisciplinary team that promotes a recovery framework.
  8. Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Office computer applications, Health Support platforms and the Patient Flow Portal.
