South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) provides research and development services to the state government, commercial clients and research partners to help make South Australia’s primary industries and regions internationally competitive and ecologically sustainable. SARDI’s programs are designed to increase the productivity, sustainability and adaptability of the state’s agriculture, food and wine, fisheries and aquaculture and bioscience enterprises, create opportunities for market growth, address barriers to growth and provide applied solutions.
The Senior Research Officer (Animal Health & Statistics) supports research in SARDI by providing expertise and knowledge in animal health and veterinary/animal science to related research projects. The Senior Research Officer (Animal Health & Statistics) provides quality advice, consulting and collaborating on the design, analysis and interpretation of experiments, surveys and other studies. The Senior Research Officer (Animal Health & Statistics) is expected to visit farms and slaughter establishments and assist in collection of samples; provide quantitative and statistical assistance to research projects; and to provide support to the Research Scientist (Statistics). The Senior Research Officer (Animal Health & Statistics) will undertake risk assessments to inform risk management decisions and a willingness to learn advanced statistical methods and programming is required.
Salary: $77,752 - $86,620 per annum
Special Conditions: This is a contract / term vacancy up to 23/2/2018. Some intra-state and interstate travel (including absence overnight) may be required. Some out-of-hours work will be required. A current driver's licence is essential. An undergraduate degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science or equivalent, training and skills in statistics would be regarded favourably.
