This Level 6 Tertiary Hospital is the largest in the region providing trauma, medical and surgical services.
You will work in a growing health care service that includes a new Critical Services Building providing state of the art technology and facilities.

We are thrilled to offer a compelling opportunity for an experienced Cardiac Scientist/Physiologist to join our esteemed Allied Health team. This pivotal role necessitates a deep expertise in cardiac physiology, specifically focusing on performing intricate diagnostic investigations and therapeutic interventions in accordance with established procedures and rigorous standards. The position calls for a high level of autonomy, including participation in an on-call rotation.

Primary duties involve managing our cardiac physiology service, offering essential support to allied health staff, and leading the creation and execution of extensive educational and training programs for staff and students.
Additionally, the role requires active engagement in ongoing professional growth across the comprehensive Clinical Measurement Science (CMS) disciplines, encompassing cardiac, neurophysiology, respiratory, and sleep sciences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the broad direction from the Cardiology Allied Health Manager (Physiologists and Sonographers) you will:

  • Provide leadership, clinical expertise and independently perform cardiac diagnostic testing within the Cardiology Unit.
  • Support the Cardiology Allied Health Manager by helping to manage the day to day operation and organisation of the cardiac physiology services of the Cardiology Department, ensuring patient-centred care, efficient service delivery, and equipment acquisition and maintenance.
  • Coordinate Quality Management Systems (including maintenance and review of clinical standards, policies and protocols) for the Service that meet Canberra Health, professional and national requirements including quality improvement and research activities.
  • Oversee clinical supervision, teaching and support continuing professional development for cardiac physiology staff and students.
  • Engage in, and represent the Service, in allied health and/or Canberra Health-wide initiatives and projects.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Applied Science
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience and knowledge of all areas of non-invasive and invasive Cardiology
  • International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) accredited or equivalent and/or graduate diploma of cardiac electrophysiology (CEPIA)
  • Be registered under the Working for Vulnerable People Act (WWVP)
  • Compliant with Vaccination Policy
  • The successful applicant will need to be available for after-hours on-call work
