ABOUT THE ROLE

The Junior Graphic Designer is responsible for effectively communicating our brand message and values to our customers by supporting the production of graphic design and communication materials, under the guidance and supervision of the Design Lead.

The Junior Graphic Designer is part of the Marketing and Communications department. They collaborate and share responsibility to support the design needs of the business across a range of assets, including but not limited to: eDM, website, social media and print.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Create, review, and update creative assets for a range of stakeholder needs, ensuring brand guidelines are followed, under the guidance of the Design Lead.
  • Work collaboratively and independently on specific design projects or tasks within overall institute policies and guidelines.
  • Support the creative team to develop effective, on-brand content to enhance the Marketing team’s self-service functionality, enabling stakeholders to access assets on-demand.
  • Understand and apply design principles related to specific cohort needs, including culturally and linguistically diverse students, mature age students, those with barriers to education, and training and employment requirements.
  • Assist with the prioritisation and monitoring of workflows and production schedules within the creative team.
  • Participate and support with duties as required by the Design Lead.

ABOUT YOU

You will have a relevant degree with 1+ years of relevant work experience in graphic design or similar, or a suitable combination of lesser qualifications and a dedicated portfolio of creative work.

Crucial to your success in the role will be your demonstrated technical skills in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. You will have a basic understanding of design principles, typography and colour theory.

You will have creative thinking and the ability to interpret briefs to produce considered design assets.

You will also have good communication and interpersonal skills together with good attention to detail and good organisational skills to manage workload and meet deadlines, with the ability to work independently, in a team environment and under supervision.
