Clinical Registrar Psychologist


Ambulance Victoria's (AV) mission is to improve the health of our community by delivering innovative, high quality ambulance services.  A new opportunity is now available in our People and Culture Division for a Psychologist to work with Wellbeing and Support Services at Ambulance Victoria. This includes assistance to the Principal Psychologist in the provision of clinical services and programs. This is a full time, permanent position based at our Doncaster Headquarters, although you will initially work from home.

About the role

Reporting to the Principal Psychologist, this is an entry level role for a psychologist eligible to undertake a Clinical Psychology Registrar training program. In this role you will provide support to the Psychology Team in the provision of training and education, clinical support programs and project implementation to advance evidence based clinical outcomes for Ambulance Victoria (AV) employees and their families. This key role will be responsible for an ongoing focus on prevention, education, early intervention and preventative programs already embedded within AV, working closely within Wellbeing and Support Services. 

About you

The successful applicant will be a registered psychologist with demonstrated knowledge, skill and experience in trauma informed practice, psychological assessment, psychological treatments, crisis intervention and critical incident response. You must have a Clinical Masters or Clinical Doctorate in Psychology and be eligible to register to complete the Clinical Registrar program to obtain your endorsement under supervision as a Clinical Psychologist.

Role Specific Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity you will need:

  • Knowledge, skills and experience expected of a higher degree student with broad placement experience across mental health settings
  • A placement history or work experience that includes psychological assessment as well as demonstrated understanding of psychological formulations, crisis intervention and trauma-informed care
  • Experience in delivering training and presentations to a broad audience
  • The capacity to make effective decisions, problem solve and prioritise work under high-pressure conditions
  • To demonstrate advanced computer skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Office applications and relevant software applications
  • A current Victorian Driver's License and be prepared to travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria as required

Experience in the public mental health sector would be advantageous. The successful candidate will enrol in a Clinical Registrar program and be supervised by the Principal Psychologist, or Senior Delegate where appropriate.


This position is graded at AV4.  The grade salary range for an AV4 position is $93,819 - $117,413 plus 10% superannuation. The expectation is that employees will commence at the base of the grade applicable to a position.
