Senior Advisor Workplace Relations

We are seeking a Senior Advisor Workplace Relations to plan and implement workplace relations initiatives for our People and Culture Department. This is a Full Time, Permanent position based at Doncaster. While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Doncaster headquarters in line with our hybrid working model. 

About the role

Reporting to the Lead Workplace Relations, this role will provide advice and support to the AV Executive and managers regarding the prevention and resolution of disputes and grievances, union consultation, performance management processes and termination of employment. Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Research and investigate queries from managers, employees and unions relating to employee relations issues and formulate strategies and provide specialist advice to address potential breaches of industrial instruments or statutory entitlements and prevent industrial disputation
  • Take a lead role in the provision of advice, education and support to the Executive, managers and Senior People Partners regarding the prevention and resolution of disputes and grievances, union consultation, performance management processes and employment lifecycle matters, to ensure compliance and foster a progressive employee relations culture
  • Devise dispute resolution strategies, lead negotiations with unions and represent AV before Fair Work Commission and in other relevant forums 

About you

The ideal candidate will have postgraduate degree or relevant industry certification (Industrial Relations or Human Resources) (or progressing  towards) with high level relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and sound experience. Additional requirements include but not limited to: 

  • Proven experience in providing strategic advice and dealing with complex and sensitive employee relations issues across large or complex organisations (preferably public sector)
  • Solid understanding of the current Industrial Relations framework
  • Experience as an industrial relations advocate before Fair Work Commission and proven ability to negotiate on complex industrial relations matters
  • Demonstrated high-level communication,  interpersonal and relationship building skills
