About the role - Ongoing, Full time

Senior Executive Officer

The Senior Engineer Asset Strategy is responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Asset Management and Accountability Framework, leading future servicing strategies aligned with identified Bass Coast Shire Council development areas, ensuring assets have suitable capacity for servicing predicted future growth and impacts of a changing and more variable climate. 
This role will lead the development of the long-term investment program, to deliver agreed customer outcomes and service levels.  The delivery of effective cross business asset management processes will be a key outcome of the role. 

Key Responsibilities 

Asset Management System Leadership

  • Develop and implement the Asset Management System in line with AMAF and ISO 55000 standards.

Strategic Asset Management

  • Create and oversee asset policies, strategies, and plans to support organisational objectives.

Compliance and Oversight

  • Ensure asset management practices meet legislative requirements, including Westernport Water's four dams with the largest being Candowie Reservoir.

Investment and Capacity Planning

  • Assist with prioritising capex and opex projects and assess current and future system needs.

Performance and Maintenance Management

  • Analyse network performance, lead failure analysis, and develop a cost-effective maintenance program.

Stakeholder Communication and Reporting

  • Communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders and provide timely reports on asset performance and compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Significant experience in a similar role.
  • Tertiary engineering qualification and professional membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Extensive experience in asset strategy, planning, and management systems within the Water Industry.
  • Excellent skills in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, with strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Extensive experience in Civil or Mechanical Engineering within water and wastewater services.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing Asset Management Systems following Victorian and ISO 55000 standards.
  • Skilled in providing strategic advice and simplifying complex concepts.
  • Ability to identify asset optimization opportunities and lead change management effectively.
