WA Labor accused of selling access
WA Labor has been accused of selling access to cabinet ministers for up to $6,000 per head.
The party is offering “exclusive” invitations to a Business Engagement Program.
“Our exclusive business program provides the opportunity to discuss matters of interest with the entire WA Labor Cabinet,” the invitation states.
“The program will feature an address by the Premier, Mark McGowan and will be attended by all Ministers of the McGowan Labor Government.
“Tickets are strictly limited to ensure high-quality engagement.”
For $6,000 per person — or $10,000 for two people — participants will get have lunch and an evening session with the Premier, Cabinet and "special guests".
There is also the opportunity for individual meetings with ministers, and access to a “Government insight session”.
Queensland's Palaszczuk Government has been accused of "prostituting" itself in a similar way.
The Premier insists there will be no favourable treatment for anyone who buys the tickets.
“There are donations to political parties, it doesn't get you anything,” Mr McGowan said.
“It doesn't get you any commitments, any promises or anything else of any nature.
“There will be full transparency in accordance with the law.”
The Greens have proposed the reintroduction of legislation making it unlawful for political parties to profit from promoting access to ministers.
