The Victorian Government has announced the appointment of John Doyle, currently the Auditor-General of British Columbia in Canada, as the state’s new Auditor-General.

The appointment of Mr Doyle was made following an extensive selection process undertaken by the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee.

Premier Ted Baillieu said he was very pleased that Mr Doyle had accepted the posting.

“The Auditor-General has an essential role in ensuring that public funds are not only spent in line with the appropriations made by Parliament, but also that those funds are spent effectively to the benefit of Victorians,” Mr Baillieu said.

Mr Doyle has a distinguished professional career in Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada. He has previously held the position of Deputy Auditor-General of Western Australia and has served as an Associate Professor at Notre Dame University in WA.
