The NSW Police executive team has been reshuffled.

Newly-appointed New South Wales Police Commissioner Mick Fuller has removed Deputy Commissioner Catherine Burn from the counter-terrorism portfolio, moving fellow Deputy Commissioner Dave Hudson to the top of investigations and counter-terrorism.

Deputy Commissioner Hudson will head up investigations and counter-terrorism, including State Crime Command (SCC), which covers specialist detective squads for homicide, child abuse, drugs and organised crime.

Deputy Commissioner Burn will keep her role as deputy for specialist support, which includes command of traffic and highway patrol, transport and the marine area command.

“I have been privileged to work in an environment where we have been doing everything we can to prevent terrorism and keep people safe,” Deputy Commissioner Burn said.

“I am committed to enhancing and strengthening the specialist support we can deliver to our officers on the frontline.”

The new appointments will take effect on May 1 and are to be followed by the appointment of three additional deputy commissioners.

“These changes are part of the re-engineering process of the NSW Police Force,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“These changes are designed to bring extra support to frontline policing and crime reduction in our community.”
