The Queensland Government has pledged to publish quarterly performance data for Queensland’s Hospital and Health Services across the state’s local newspapers.

State Health Minister, Lawrence Springborg, said that under the plan, elective surgery, emergency department and specialist outpatient waiting times will be published quarterly in newspapers.

The plan will also see data on support for families with newborns, numbers of hospital acquired infections and value for money will be delivered as annual figures become available.

“I want Queenslanders to see the full picture of how their Hospital and Health Service is performing and they will now have better access to this information than ever before,” Mr Springborg said.

“This snapshot provides patients and GPs with an overview of how their local services are performing compared to the rest of the state.

“GPs can also view the broader range of data online to help refer patients to an appropriate hospital service with a shorter wait, or consider a referral to private specialists or alternative providers in the community.”
