The Queensland Government has moved to reassure resources companies that it will continue to pursue policies and initiatives aimed at encouraging growth and exploration in the sector across the State.

The announcement comes after the Queensland Resources Council released its Exploration Card 2012, which highlighted the challenges faced by the sector.

State Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Andrew Cripps, said that the State Government would remain committed to reducing red tape in the sector.

“Already two Bills that seek to reduce the regulatory burden on resource companies and shorten approvals processes from exploration through to full-scale production, have passed State Parliament,” Mr Cripps said.

“Both the Mines Legislation Streamlining Amendment Bill and the Greentape Reduction Bill target unnecessary delays in the current approvals system and have been welcomed by industry.”
