The Queensland Public Sector Commission (QPSC) has unveiled a five-year strategy for workplace enhancement.

The QPSC has outlined a planned strategy with a focus on the workplace, workforce, and work, in their recent annual report.

“Being considered an employer of choice that is effective in developing and attracting high calibre people with the skills and capabilities that the Queensland public sector needs now and into the future is an essential element in being able to serve all Queenslanders,” Public Service Commissioner David Mackie said in the report.

“Further, ensuring that public sector employees undertake their roles as professionals in the craft of public service practice is essential to maintaining the trust and confidence of Queenslanders.

“These are fundamental areas of focus and priority for the Commission for the coming years and at the very heart of what our role as stewards of the public sector should be.”

Looking ahead to the fiscal year 2023-24, the Commission says it will concentrate on developing 12 additional directives with supporting materials to facilitate the implementation of the new legislation.

This includes collaborating with the sector to enact a recruitment and selection directive that focuses on selecting the most suitable candidate for a role while considering equity and diversity factors.
