The Victorian Government has announced it is close to making a decision on whether to provide incentives for ceiling insulation under the Energy Saver Incentive Scheme after the recent public consultation period.

State Energy and Resources Minister, Michael O’Brien, said the Government was now consulting with the relevant authorities ahead of its decision.

Mr O'Brien said that the Department of Primary Industries required more time to address concerns raised in public consultation, particularly questions about the quality and availability of training for the installers of ceiling insulation.

"Offering incentives for ceiling insulation under the Energy Saver Incentive Scheme could deliver real benefits to Victorians, but the Coalition Government needs to be certain that all the appropriate safeguards are in place to ensure insulation is installed safely by properly qualified people," Mr O'Brien said.
