Queensland Health Minister Geoff Wilson has announced the final three shortlisted contractors currently vying for the construction of the $2.03 billion Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Mr Wilson announced the following three companies as the final shortlist

  • Exemplar Health, including Lend Lease, Siemens, Capella Capital and Spotless
  • Sunshine Health Partners, including Abigroup, Thiess, John Laing Investments, Infrared Capital and RBS Australia
  • Salus Partnership, including Laing O’Rourke, Bilfinger Berger, UGL services and Macquarie Capital.

"Shortlisted consortia will now participate in a Request for Binding Bids process, which will determine which of these consortia will ultimately win the contract to build the hospital,” Mr Wilson said.

The hospital will open with 450 beds in 2016 growing to 738 beds by 2021 and will be the largest hospital building project by the time construction starts in 2013.

“As a result Sunshine Coast residents will have access locally to services including a new comprehensive cancer care centre, and a range of complex surgical services including neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, maxillofacial surgery and a trauma service.” Mr Wilson said.

The project will see over 2000 construction workers used and 3500 clinical staff on completion.
