We have an exciting, opportunity for a hydrogeologist, hydrologist or equivalent professional to direct and coordinate on northern Victorias groundwater and unregulated systems. With a focus on the licensing and management of these important natural resources.

About the Role

The Senior Groundwater and Streams Officer provides specialist technical advice for significant and complex activities, including licensing of groundwater and unregulated surface water. The role Includes collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a wide range of services related to management of groundwater and unregulated surface water resources.

Based in the Tatura office with flexible home working arrangements, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to complex studies in hydrology and water system operation
  • Develop new and updated methods, procedures, and technologies for application to groundwater and unregulated surface water resource management
  • Provide technical advice to GMW work units and external stakeholders on groundwater and unregulated surface water resource management
  • Provide professional and program management support to the Authority, government agencies and to internal and external forums in relation to groundwater and streams issues
  • Maintain effective customer relations by providing information, resolving customer enquiries, service issues, difficulties, supply problems and complaints
  • Undertake reporting, investigations, and representation of GMW in a range of forums as required.

What do you need?

  • Well-developed knowledge and understanding of land and water management and surface hydrology and groundwater hydrogeology
  • Degree relevant to water, science or natural resource management, data analysis and interpretation
  • Ability to develop, coordinate and oversee a range of water planning and management activities
  • Excellent customer and stakeholder engagement skills
