Where you'll be working

Mid North Coast Local Health District has a permanent opportunity for a Full Time Staff Specialist Radiation Oncologist to join the team. As the successful applicant you will provide specialist radiation oncology services for optimal patient outcomes, and to support other radiation oncologists when they are on leave or offsite, including supervision of registrars and junior doctors.  

The advertised role is located within Mid North Coast Cancer Institute (MNCCI) at either Port Macquarie or Coffs Harbour. The successful applicant will have the option to choose their preferred site. At either site, you will be well supported by a cohesive, dedicated team of long term Consultant Radiation Oncologists and advanced trainees.

What you'll be doing

The role of this position is as a full-time staff specialist to provide comprehensive generalist radiation oncologist services for optimal patient outcomes, and to support other radiation oncologists when they are on leave or offsite, including supervision of registrars and junior doctors.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Radiation Oncologist, and/or overseas trained specialist pathway. 
  2. Demonstrated experience relevant to Radiation Oncology and evidence of competence in contemporary skills, including knowledge relating to 3D CT-contouring and the use of IMRT, VMAT and SBRT/SABR, relevant to a regional center hospital practice.
  3. Excellent communication and liaison skills, fostering positive and productive working relationships between team members and with other disciplines.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to training and supervision of registrars and commitment to continuing medical education relevant to Radiation Oncology including teaching of medical students, JMOs, Nursing Staff, and other staff as required and an ongoing commitment to research.
  5. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to clinical quality improvement, accreditation requirements, research, and peer review
