Executive Director, Quality and Clinical Innovation

This position will be a 3-year fixed-term position. Hybrid working options are available however it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Doncaster headquarters and across the state.
About the role
Ambulance Victoria is currently seeking a suitably experienced senior leader in the position of Executive Director Quality and Clinical Innovation.
A key member of the Executive and working closely with the Chief Executive, this position will provide a high level of strategic leadership and direction to AV's Quality and Clinical Innovation to define the strategic direction of the division and deliver innovation to provide the best possible level of care for every patient, every time.
With an ability to effectively lead the Quality and Clinical Innovation division, drive cultural transformation and foster teamwork and connection, this position will be critical to:
- Contributing, as a member of the Executive, to the development and implementation of AV's strategic plan and objectives
- Driving the integration of innovation into all practices across the organisation and to embed clinical innovation, improvement, and research translation to enhance clinical outcomes and experience for patients
- Leading and directing AV's Clinical Governance framework, Best Care, to ensure it is delivered and supported across the organisation enabling various certifications and accreditations
- Collaborating at a senior level, to develop and implement an integrated clinical governance system aimed at enhancing patient care for the delivery of measurable improvements in clinical outcomes and patient experiences
- Positioning AV in the health and emergency service systems as experts in patient-focussed emergency/pre-hospital healthcare to the Victorian community
- Providing open and effective leadership to build a high-performance, collaborative culture that fosters continuous improvement and professional development
- Leading and contributing to a safe, lawful, and respectful workplace culture through the modelling of ethical and positive behaviours consistent with the AV values
About you
Suited to highly motivated and strategic senior leader, the successful applicant will possess:
- Tertiary or post graduate qualifications in a relevant healthcare discipline to understand and perform technical and/or clinical aspects of the role
- Advanced understanding of clinical quality and patient safety principles together with a technical understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks relevant to AV at a senior level, including proven experience in developing and maintaining quality systems and clinical governance frameworks
- Experience in driving and implementing strategic cultural, organisational, and transformational change and a commitment to build a responsive, future focused and contemporary culture at a senior level
- A sound understanding of the principles and practices for delivery of patient safety and consumer experience programs, with experience applying a patient-centred lens to the design and delivery of services and workforce learning and development
- A high level of communication with an ability to build and maintain relationships and influence, negotiate, and generate buy-in with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external
- A coaching, mentoring and leadership approach to motivate, encourage, and support teams across the employee lifecycle
An understanding of paramedic practice and the pre-hospital service delivery environment would be advantageous.
