Parkville Stadium (formerly State Netball and Hockey Centre) is undergoing a $65m redevelopment to transform the venue to a state of the art, major multi-sport venue with new high performance training areas and the new home for the Women in Sport Leadership Centre. We are looking for professionals to support the expansion of the venue and move into a significant increase of utilization and activity, supporting new partnerships while also nurturing those key existing partnerships.
Now a little about the Venue Responder role
Reporting to the Venue Response Team Leader, the primary focus of the Venue Responder is to ensure that all Melbourne Sports Centres patrons and staff are kept safe while at the venues and all hazards and incidents are prevented proactively. The Venue Responder will provide day to day support for staff at Melbourne Sports Centres including but not limited to, incident response and coordination, incident database management, maintaining safety records, contractor supervision and providing general operational oversight and support for events and activities occurring at Melbourne Sports Centres.
This role provides an opportunity to be exposed to operations management processes, creating a development pathway into various operations management roles. With a brand-new team being built at Parkville, you will be part of building the foundations for procedures and processes ensuring the safety and security of all patrons and staff.
Responsibilities include:
- Respond to customer and staff requests and provide technical assistance as required
- Be conversant with emergency procedures and use of Fire Control Panels and the Crisis management response system
- Use first aid and triage principles to manage multiple injuries in emergency situations
- Oversee the use of first aid & incident report & systems to ensure their integrity
- Ensure that all first aid/incidents are dealt with professionally and within scope of role and responsibilities
- Understand, maintain training and perform duties as required within Crisis Management and the Emergency Warden hierarchy
- Demonstrate a duty of care approach towards ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all staff and users of SSCT facilities
- Ensure risk is controlled at events, crowd control practices are enforced, and appropriate security resources are on site
- Participate in a simulated emergency evacuation of the facility annually and complete two training sessions per year; assist with training in areas of responsibility as required
- Ensure that staff, tenants and contractors onsite are inducted and comply with policy and procedure.
It is essential that you can think on your feet and to problem solve when things do not go to plan. Remaining calm under pressure and working within a team to develop workplace relationships are qualities that you must have to be successful in this role.
Flexibility to work a rotating roster is a must for the role, as we operate 7 days a week and through public holidays across all three of our venues. This role is primarily based in Parkville, however you must be available to work across all three venues if required (MSAC and Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park).

Required skills & knowledge:
- SISSS00111 - Pool Lifeguard – including Deep Water Accreditation depth test to 5m
- HLTAID003 Current First Aid
- HLTAID001 Current CPR
- HLTAID007 - Advanced Resuscitation
- Working with Children Check – Current or willing to obtain
Experience in controlling emergency response
- Experience in managing a diverse array of contractors and teams.
- Experience in OH&S and risk management
- Experience in facility maintenance systems
- Experience with, and a working understanding of quality assurance systems.
- Experience in the development of policies and procedures
