Perform regulatory assessments, provide advice and carry out monitoring and compliance activities as part of the regulation of the upstream and midstream petroleum and geothermal industries in the Northern Territory. 

The successful candidate must hold a tertiary degree in a relevant field of Engineering and will be required to lead the ongoing management, reporting and monitoring of orphan wells, decommissioning or decommissioned wells across the NT, taking into account of current and emerging research, appropriate industry standards, processes and guidelines and legislation and subornidate regulations. The successful candidate will perform duties of an inspector under the relevant legislation which includes conducting compliance and monitoring activities onsite and in periods of overnight stays in remote locations. In this role the candidate will review and assess notifications submitted under the relevant legislation and will conduct investigations and report on incidents as required. This role develops policies, guidelines and procedures for regulating petroleum and geothermal energy operations. This role provides high-level professional advice to government and industry in relation to petroleum wells, including the preparation of reports, memorandums, briefs and complex correspondence as required. This role leads and supports a small team to deliver outcomes while being flexible with changing priorities.
