Bring your substantial experience in the development and management of databases and spatial data systems to the NTGS.

The Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) is the custodian of knowledge and data on the Territory’s geology and resources, and undertakes activities to support and grow resources exploration industry. In the NTGS Strategic Plan, key strategies are the development, modernisation and standardisation of systems to ensure fit-for-purpose and provide a responsive client-focused approach to service delivery.

As the Senior Geoscientist Data Systems (P3) your primary objective is to provide advice and apply your expert knowledge and skills to develop, intragrate and support geoscientific business systems to ensure effective data management and timely delivery of high-quality data.

Your key responsibilities include providing technical leadership and support, and managing GIS and geoscientific database operations, online data delivery and spatial web services. Your key focus will be on proactively promoting effective data management, ensuring data integrity, undertaking research and critical analysis, and delivering problem solving solutions. The ability to prepare project proposals for the development and maintenance of databases and systems, and an awareness of current trends and practices in data management is essential.

To be successful, you require tertiary qualifications in the Geosciences, sound knowledge of data management practices and experience with data modelling, database design and administration. Familiarity with programming or scripting using SQL, Python, FME and demonstrated experience in project management and developing information systems.
