The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics (DIPL) aims to drive the sustainable, economic and social advancement of the NT through land use and transport planning, infrastructure investment and effective logistics supply chains.

Positioned within DIPL, Infrastructure NT, the Northern Territory’s infrastructure body, undertakes strategic infrastructure planning and development that co-ordinates and aligns infrastructure needs with economic and population growth, and delivers nationally significant infrastructure projects. The Adelaide River Off-stream Water Storage (AROWS) project is a unique and innovative major water infrastructure project that can deliver complementary outcomes of water availability and environmental sustainability on a scale not seen anywhere else in Australia.

As the Planning Engineer your primary objective it to provide expert technical advice and leadership in driving the engineering design process for the AROWS major water supply infrastructure project. This includes providing advice on matters relating to planning of the civil engineering component of the project, including dam, piping, pump construction and other related activities.

Your demonstrated experience in civil engineering will be put you in good stead as you provide critical analysis and advice to senior management, and your strong relationship building and influencing skills, will help you to develop and maintaining collaborative partnerships across a range of stakeholders. In addition you will manage and monitor the performance of consultants to achieve desired timeframes and update project cost estimates.

To be successful, you require demonstrated high-level experience in civil engineering with a specific focus on pre-construction planning and the delivery of large infrastructure projects. The ability to lead and deliver complex work programs, prioritise workloads and provide concise and accurate reports and briefings is essential.
