About the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre 

Founded 20 years ago, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum. We are an independent not-for-profit organisation whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well being. We champion the rights of people seeking asylum and mobilise a community of compassion to create lasting social and policy change.

About The Role 

The Head of Governance, Risk and Corporate Services will play a crucial role in establishing and leading a streamlined, coordinated, and cohesive governance and compliance approach. Your leadership will strengthen and expand our risk and governance capabilities while fostering a culture of effective risk management across the ASRC. This is not just a job; it's a chance to be at the forefront of responsible organisational administration and to champion the uplift in capabilities required for good governance by all managers.

About You

You are a dynamic, forward-thinking leader who thrives on challenges and is ready to drive change in a vital organisation. In addition to your relevant experience, you will possess the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or postgraduate qualifications in business, law, or a related field OR 7+ years of compliance and governance experience.
  • Extensive senior-level management experience in diverse areas, including organisational governance, commercial/business entities, technology service delivery, and large-scale project implementation.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to communicate complex governance and risk concepts to a broad audience.
  • Proven track record of working with organisational leaders to support strategic planning and integrate business objectives into outcomes.
  • Experience in delivering transformational change, innovation, process improvement, and reviewing organisational policies.
  • Strong strategic thinking and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • A commitment to collaborative partnerships and developing commercial business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and a passion for developing and enabling people.
Lived experience of seeking asylum in Australia is highly desirable. Knowledge of policy and issues impacting on people seeking asylum in Australia as well as previous experience working within a not-for-profit environment, would also be advantageous.
