Senior Records Officer, NSW Trustee and Guardian 

  • Supervise and develop a small team within Records Management

  • Clerk Grade 7/8, Salary ($94,782 – $104,918 pa), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading 

About us
The Department of Justice delivers legal, court and supervision services to the people of NSW by managing courts and justice services, implementing programs to reduce crime and re offending, managing custodial and community-based correctional services, protecting rights and community standards and advising on law reform and legal matters.

Supporting over 35,000 customers annually and administering in excess of $6bn in customer assets, NSW Trustee & Guardian (NSWTG) is a statutory agency within the Stronger Communities (formerly Justice) Cluster.  The agency supports the Chief Executive Officer of the NSWTG and the Public Guardian (PG), to protect and promote the rights, dignity, choices and wishes of the people of New South Wales. We do this by providing independent and impartial financial management, guardianship and trustee services that support our customers and help them manage their health, lifestyle and financial affairs and ensure their wishes are respected. 

Our services help support and protect some of the most vulnerable members of the NSW community, and support people at vulnerable moments in their life. 

About the role
The Senior Records Officer’s responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Providing timely, efficient and effective records management services that meet the needs of internal and external customers
  • Assisting to implement plans, policies and training to embed a consistent and efficient approach to records management across NSWTG
  • Solving day-to-day problems and issues as they arise and referring difficult and sensitive matters to the Manager, Records Management for resolution or advice
  • Implementing and administering the NSWTG records management system to ensure timely and accurate information is available
  • Proactively identifying records management issues and ensuring effective mail handling and document management services are available
  • Supervising and developing a team to deliver an efficient and effective working environment and reliable and consistent service.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in a records management role within a financial services or government agency context.
  • Understanding of NSW government and NSWTG’s key services and client base.
  • All roles in NSWTG require a willingness to have phone calls monitored for monitoring and training purposes.

About you
The successful candidate will ideally have the following:

  • A relevant qualification or extensive experience in a records, archive and/or information management specialist and extensive related work experience in training and record management. 
  • Ability to manage the front-end administration, maintenance and effective operation of HPE Content Manager or similar Records Management system
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Increasing awareness of Records and Information Management practices across Trustee and Guardian, through training and communication
  • Good knowledge of applying and complying with the State Records Act 1998
