We are seeking a Data Insights and Evaluation Officer to join our Data and Insights team on an ongoing basis. The role will be based in our Sydney Olympic Park Office, offering flexible hybrid work arrangements.
We offer a competitive salary to the right candidate with salary range starting from $106,025 up to $117,363 per annum plus 11% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading.

About the role
As the Data Insights and Evaluation Officer you will be is responsible for integrating data and research to devise and deliver analysis, insights, reporting and evaluation to inform Office of Sport strategies and decision making processes affecting sport and active recreation development and contribution to NSW Government priorities.
In this role, you will be required to:
- Support sport and active recreation development initiatives by consolidating data from a variety of sources, performing in-depth analyses and interpretation, summarising results and key trends, updating materials, and preparing reports and presentations.
- Provide data-supported advice on key sport and active recreation initiatives. This may include areas such as reporting, data analysis, evaluation, process improvement and compliance.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Extensive experience of doing end-to-end data projects in the Azure ecosystem using tools such as ADF and Power BI.
- High level of expertise in SQL and relational database design and programming.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in presenting technical information and findings to business and executive stakeholders.
- Some experience / knowledge of collaborative design and development of data collection instruments (e.g. surveys) to measure outcomes of initiatives.
- Some knowledge and experience with a high-level programming language (preferably Python).
- Some knowledge of machine learning and NLP (nice to have).
