Business Development Executive

 

CENTREPIECE, the premier functions space at Melbourne & Olympic Parks, is looking for ainfluential Business Development Executive to play a pivotal role in driving the growth of the venue. Working within the sales team, this role will see you using your extensive network to source new business opportunities, while nurturing client relationships, and ensuring the seamless progression of leads through the sales pipeline. This role will be on a fixed term contract with the possibility of progressing into a full time position.

About the role 

Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Business Development Executive will be focused on outbound sales through generating qualified leads and facilitating their conversion into contracted events. 

Using your exceptional interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to cultivate strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders to understand their needs, address their concerns, and position CENTREPIECE as a trusted partner. Working closely with the Client Relationship Managers to exchange insights, coordinate efforts, and ensure alignment in targeting and prioritising leads will position you for success from the outset. 

The role will take on all aspects of the process from lead generation and client acquisition, to reporting and the creation of a quarterly sales plan, while utilising market insights and networking skills to elevate our presence in the industry. 

The chance to identify new opportunities to promote CENTREPIECE at industry trade and external events and be our representative at these events will allow you to make your mark on a large scale. 

What you will bring to the role  

  • Strong knowledge and passion of the Business Events Industry and a well-developed client network
  • Excellent communications skills including significant experience in preparing and presenting proposals to management level clients
  • Strong sales skills and successful track record in converting sales
  • Exceptional time management, planning, and organisational skills with a positive approach to change
  • Ability to have your finger on the pulse by staying informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics, and to make use of this knowledge to identify new opportunities and adapt sales strategies accordingly
  • Capability to build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships and prioritising these relationships in order to successfully deliver in your space
  • Curiosity to look for better ways of doing things that balance productivity and outcomes with a focus on continuous improvement
