- Acute assessment, crisis intervention, consultancy, and advice via Virtual Triage, and at times, for patients presenting to the Emergency Department and Mental Health Acute Review Clinic
- Provides a complex client centred consultancy practice participating in direct patient care provision as part of the multidisciplinary team, (MDT) ensuring a high standard of nursing care.
- Provision of acute mental health assessment for patients and their families via Virtual Triage including care formulation, risk assessment, planning, liaising with external stakeholders, and coordinating admission pathways including locally and statewide.
- Acts as point of contact regarding major incidents and support with crisis management.
- Acts as a member of Mental Health Inpatient Unit multidisciplinary team supporting nursing team leaders in discharge planning, and facilitation to the MHARC clinic and/or the CAMHS community services. Facilitating outreach services as needed
- Supports the Telepsychiatry Service – Child and Adolescent Psychological Telemedicine Outreach Service (CAPTOS) and/or Virtual service through Psychological Medicine
- Works autonomously and be able to triage competing acute needs within the hospital.
- Will work Monday to Friday during business but will have the capacity to work a rotating roster if the clinical need demands.
- Supports safeguards team.
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum of 5 years full time post qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.
- Relevant approved post registration qualification in field of practice at Master’s level or working towards or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation
- Proven clinical leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice
- Demonstrated high level communication and inter- personal skills
- Proven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based research
- Demonstrated skills in strategic and clinical service planning and including an understanding of organisational behaviour, change management and cultural changes processes
- Demonstrated competency in the use of contemporary information systems and clinical teaching and development of specialty education programs
- Demonstrated provision of a child and family centred consultancy with the ability to work independently

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, as this is a Category A position, workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
