Remuneration: $161,042 per annum – $180,143 per annum + super and annual leave loading

ABOUT THE ROLE

The position of Associate Director Safety is responsible for the strategic leadership of the NSW Ambulance work health and safety portfolio and the development of operational work health and safety risk management strategies to foster positive organisational change across the NSW Ambulance workforce. The position is responsible for the effective management and strategic development of the enterprise work health and safety program. The position is responsible for policy and program development to minimise work health and safety risk exposure and improve organisational performance and compliance.

The incumbent is required to proactively develop and implement performance indicators aligned to the Government’s KPIs in the risk area. The Associate Director Safety provides complex advice and input into the development and implementation of workforce strategies to support NSW Ambulance.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will require the following experience and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualifications, or relevant experience, in work health and safety or a related area and proven experience in the management of programs in a widely distributed field-based workforce with the provision of expert advice in a complex and multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience at a strategic level in relation to work health and safety practices, policies and processes with thorough knowledge of and achievements in the integration into the culture of the organisation
  • A substantial knowledge of work health and safety risk and management systems within the public sector, as well as a sound understanding of the state-wide work health and safety risk management policy arena within NSW.
  • Senior and high-level written communication skills, including briefings, project and management reports with excellent negotiation, interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills. Knowledge and experience in instructing and negotiating with solicitors and counsel in court matters in relation to risk issues is required.
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical, project management, organisational and time management skills and experience as well as proven achievements as a senior manager in leading a diverse team and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Computer literacy including thorough data analysis and reporting skills involving databases, spreadsheets, word processing and other applications used in the Windows environment.
  • Demonstrated people management skills, including providing staff support, staff development, performance management and the early identification of unacceptable workplace behaviours and taking appropriate action such as investigation, resolution and monitoring of harassment and bullying, grievance issues and conflict resolution.
