Powerlink is expanding, and we're on the lookout for passionate Senior & Grid Planning Engineers to join our vibrant team. If you're driven by the prospect of shaping the future of Queensland's energy transmission network, this is your chance to make a significant impact.

In this role, you'll be at the heart of our grid planning operations, collaborating across multiple disciplines to shape the evolution of our transmission network. You'll dive into the intricacies of planning, energy markets, and network optimisation to ensure reliability, performance, and quality of supply are always at their peak. From leading multi-disciplinary teams to analysing the integration of renewable energy sources, your expertise will be instrumental in driving our network forward.

You will;

  • Participate in and lead cross-functional teams to develop innovative plans for network optimisation, considering factors such as asset condition, load forecasts, and customer connectivity
  • Drive connection planning analysis, providing invaluable insights to our Business Development team for informed decision-making
  • Take the lead in investigating the integration of renewable energy zones, assessing their impact on network performance and system security
  • Provide expert planning services to support the development of strategic plans, project approvals, and regulatory compliance (i.e. TAPR, RIN  & RIT-T)
  • Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives

Your expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is desirable
  • Significant knowledge of power system plant characteristics and modelling techniques
  • Proficiency in computer-based power system modelling and analysis tools (PSS/E)
  • Strong understanding of National Electricity Rules and system standards relevant to TNSP’s
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts effectively

Senior Engineer expectations

  • Capable of leading complex projects and providing direction to other planning engineers
  • Willingness to share and mentor other less experienced engineers within the team
  • Competent at conveying complex technical information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong technical writing skills
