About the role
We currently have a full time opportunity for a Team Leader Track Engineering in our SEQ Asset Planning and Engineering team. This role is primarily responsible for providing expert track engineering and technical services. The position will focus on leading a project-based team to support Queensland Rail in delivering quality, commercially focused track engineering solutions across Queensland Rail.
This is a permanent opportunity based at Brisbane. Travel out to various sites in SEQ and regionally will be required. The hours are Monday to Friday 38 hours per week however some overtime and weekend work may be expected.
This is a unique opportunity to assist in the development of a new track engineering team within Queensland Rail, providing specialist engineering advice to stakeholders across the network. This role will see you working across a range of projects, including Cross River Rail, while developing a new team within this engineering field. We are looking for someone who is willing to be involved in the growth phase of this new team.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and develop engineering and technical professionals in project based teams to ensure delivery of effective and commercially valuable track asset design solutions. Provide professional expertise, support advice and supervision.
- Provide expert professional services to complete projects against specified key performance indicators, taking into account scope, quality, safety considerations, allocated budgets and timeframes to deliver valuable, whole-of-life focussed asset solutions.
- Lead and coach individuals in delivering rail infrastructure outcomes within an asset management framework, including consideration of design integration, safety in design, business improvements, technology development and innovation.
- Provide technical assistance to design managers and construction managers to support the effective integration of track engineering inputs to major multidisciplinary projects.
- Develop and enhance technology systems, safety, environmental, quality and technical standards, specifications and procedures.
- Develop budgets and programmes for track engineering projects and maintain control over all resources so as to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
We are seeking interest from people who have:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field (civil preferred)
- High level of skill in leading and developing a project-based team of engineering and technical professionals that delivers commercial outcomes.
- Extensive knowledge of the requirements for railway infrastructure, design, construction and maintenance, and how they impact on railway operations, to ensure the safety of passengers, workers and trains.
- High level of skill in meeting statutory, regulatory and policy obligations, particularly in relation to Work Health & Safety and Rail safety, in a commercially focused business.
- High level of leadership, people management, interpersonal, communication, planning, coordination and negotiation skills.
The salary for this role is a base salary range of PT5.1 – PT5.4 - $123,000-132,000 excluding superannuation.
