Organisational Overview:

Ngadju Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (NNTAC) is the prescribed body corporate (PBC) for the Ngadju Peoples' native title determination centred around Norseman in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. NNTAC is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and enhancing the cultural heritage and well-being of the Ngadju People. Our work is guided by principles of respect, sustainability, and community empowerment. We collaborate with Ngadju people to support cultural heritage projects, land management, and community development initiatives.

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified anthropologist passionate about working with Aboriginal communities. The successful candidate will be involved in ethnographic research, community engagement, and developing programs supporting Aboriginal cultural heritage preservation. This role requires a deep understanding of and respect for Aboriginal cultures and the ability to work collaboratively with community members to facilitate their goals and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct ethnographic research and cultural mapping projects in collaboration with Ngadju people.
• Participate in and provide detailed reports on heritage surveys with proponents and Ngadju traditional owners.
• Assist in the development of Cultural Heritage Management Plans and cultural heritage assessments.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with community members, local organisations, and other stakeholders.
• Provide anthropological advice and support to the Land Access Manager regarding future act and heritage matters as required.
• Assist in developing cultural awareness training programs for external stakeholders.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation that respect the confidentiality and cultural significance of the information.
• Participate in community meetings and workshops, sometimes outside standard working hours.
• Develop and maintain a cultural heritage database, ensuring cultural sensitivity and accuracy. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree with honours (or Masters) in Anthropology or related field, strongly focusing on Aboriginal Australian studies.
• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and a deep understanding of their cultures and societal structures.
• Experience conducting ethnographic research, managing cultural heritage projects, or working on Native Title claims.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proficient in engaging respectfully and effectively with diverse groups.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to the principles of social justice and equity for Aboriginal people.
• Must have a full C-class driver's licence and be able to travel to regional and remote parts of Western Australia. 

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in undertaking Heritage Surveys, Site Recordings and other related heritage work.  
• High level of proficiency with GIS tools and cultural mapping software.
