The Tasmanian Government has paid tribute to outgoing Tasmanian Ombudsman Simon Allston, who is departing the role after six years to pursue a range of private interests.

State Attorney-General, Brian Wightman, announced that Mr Allston had retired effective immediately.

“On behalf of the Government I would like to thank Mr Allston for his many years of hard work, dedication and valuable service to the Tasmanian community,” Mr Wightman said.

The Director of the Office of Ombudsman, Mr Richard Connock, will be acting as Ombudsman and Health Complaints Commissioner until Mr Allston’s replacement is appointed.

“Interviews were recently conducted and a decision about who will be appointed to replace Mr Allston can be expected shortly.”
