State funds permanent aides
This week’s Queensland budget will see hundreds of patient aides made permanent.
Since 2015, nurse navigators have been hired to make sure patients with complex health issues are getting the right treatment.
The state’s 400 aides will now become a permanent fixture of the public health system.
Health Minister Steven Miles has announced that this week’s budget papers will include $116 million for the nurse navigator program.
It comes on top of $396 million for redevelopments at Caboolture Hospital, and $460 million earmarked for work at Logan Hospital.
