Queensland announces major projects conference line-up
The Queensland Government has announced the line-up of speakers at Queensland’s Major Projects Conference.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development Andrew Fraser today announced the full program of 27 speakers for the 2011 Major Projects Conferencewhich will be held on 25 October at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“With more than $55 billion in private and public sector projects under assessment by the Coordinator-General, Queensland is on the cusp of a boom that will provide a wellspring of opportunity for generations to come,” Mr Fraser said.
The line-up of speakers from the resource sector includes:
- Paul Mulder, Managing Director of Hancock Coal, the proponent for the $7 billion Alpha Coal Project in the Galilee Basin
- Rob McNamara, General Manger of AMCI, the proponent for the proposed $1.5 billion South Galilee Coal Project
- Hubie van Dalsen, Metallurgical Coal President of Australia’s largest coal producer BHP Billiton Mitsubishi who will talk about coal growth in the Bowen Basin.
“QR National CEO Lance Hockridge will speak about the $900 million Wiggins Island Rail Line – one of the largest rail expansions in Australia,” Mr Fraser said.
“Conference delegates will also hear from Graeme Newton, CEO of the Queensland Reconstruction Authority and guiding force behind Queensland’s $6.8 billion reconstruction and recovery program.”
Mr Fraser also announced that energy future and security will also feature strongly in the line-up.
"CEO of Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) Page Maxson will discuss elements of the joint venture which includes LNG gas fields in the Surat and Bowen Basins, the 520km Curtis Island pipeline, and LNG facility on Curtis Island,” he said.
“Solar Dawn’s development manager Andrew Dickson will also be in attendance to speak about the proposed 250 megawatt solar thermal gas hybrid power plant near Chinchilla.”
