Pay deal sees solid rise in SA
A new enterprise agreement has been approved for the South Australian Public Service.
The new Weekly Paid agreement took effect from August 20.
Key elements of the agreement include:
Pay rises:
- Three pay rises of 2.5% - from July 2014, from July 2015, and in July 2016
- The operative dates for the pay rises have been brought forward from October in the previous agreement to July in the new agreement
Job Security:
- There is a new Appendix dealing with changes to workforce composition, managing excess employees, redeployment, redundancy and retraining
- There are significant protections for members and detailed processes for dealing with workplace changes which may result in employees becoming excess
- The agreement acknowledges the government's commitment to no privatisation of significant assets or outsourcing of government services. It acknowledges the government's advice that no widespread outsourcing is planned
Ministerial Chauffeurs:
- The Ministerial Chauffeurs overtime allowance will now be paid during all paid leave. Previously this allowance was not paid during any leave.
“No conditions have been lost from the previous agreement – all conditions have been retained,” the SA Public Service Association says.
“This agreement is a good outcome for members. The new agreement provides an extensive range of protections and entitlements for members. The nominal expiry date of the agreement is June 2017.”
