Houston takes up Defence SA role
Former Chief of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, has been appointed to the Defence SA Advisory Board.
Premier Jay Weatherill welcomed Mr Houston to the role, saying his extensive experience in the ADF would prove invaluable for the state.
“As former Chief of the Defence Force, and Chief of Air Force, his extensive experience and expertise will prove invaluable as we continue to grow South Australia’s Defence presence and build a sustainable defence industry,” Mr Weatherill said.
“Air Chief Marshal Houston will make an exceptional contribution to the Defence SA Advisory Board.”
Defence SA Advisory Board Chairman, General Peter Cosgrove AC MC, also welcomed the appointment.
“Air Chief Marshal Houston is an outstanding leader, with unquestionable strategic acumen. The board is delighted to welcome a member of his calibre,” General Cosgrove said.
Mr Weatherill also announced the reappointment of Dr Ian Chessell and Lieutenant General Peter Leahy AC to the Advisory Board, and thanked Air Marshal Les Fisher AO who has retired from the board following six years of exceptional service.
