Western Australia’s first Development Assessment Panel (DAP) has met in Broome.

Planning Minister John Day said the first meeting of the Kimberley Development Assessment Panel was an important milestone in the State Government’s planning reform agenda.

“This is a significant chapter in WA’s development - Development Assessment Panels streamline processes previously hindered by red tape, which can result in costly delays to development,” he said.

The new panels consist of both local government and specialist representatives to improve the balance between technical planning advice and community knowledge.

The panels determine development applications of more than $15million in the City of Perth, and more than $7million across the rest of the State.

The Development Assessment Panels have the same decision making discretion as local governments and the Western Australian Planning Commission.
