Darling to head Queensland Environment portfolio
Member for Sandgate Vicky Darling has been endorsed by Queensland’s Caucus as the state’s Environment Minister after the departure of Kate Jones from the cabinet position.
Premier Anna Bligh has welcomed the Caucus’ decision, saying that Ms Darling has possesses a proven track record of community service, adding her experience as Deputy Government Whip will serve her well as she assumes the portfolio.
“She will be a valuable member of my Cabinet team as we get on with the job of building Queensland back better in this year of rebuilding and recovery,” Ms Bligh said.
Ms Darling will assume the portfolio’s duties following her swearing in this week.
The announcement comes as Finance and Arts Minister Rachel Nolan will assume responsibility for Natural Resources.
Brisbane Central MP Grace Grace will assume the Deputy Whip position.
