Bendigo construction kicks off
The Victorian Government has announced construction work on the new $630 million Bendigo Hospital has been given the green light following the signing between the State Government and the Exemplar Health Consortium.
Premier Denis Napthine said that the delivery of the contract was a crucial step in the delivery of significantly improved health services for the region.
“This project will result in Victoria’s largest regional hospital, a world-class, state-of-the-art facility, providing high quality healthcare for the greater Bendigo community.
“It will generate more than 770 construction industry and supply chain jobs, with at least 300 jobs maintained for a minimum of three years during the peak construction period for the hospital,” Dr Napthine said.
The new hospital would have 372 beds and 10 operating theatres, an integrated cancer centre and mental health unit and a helipad connected by bridge link to the main hospital.
