Allegations of inter-state public money drug run
WA Police are looking to prosecute a public servant they say stole $45,000 from corporate cards and went on an inter-state drug run.
A WA Department of Parks and Wildlife employee will appear in court this week charged with fraud, stealing as a public servant, and possession of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply.
Police allege the staffer, 34-year-old Sylvia Jaworski, took money from two staff credit cards over a nine-month period starting last April.
“It will be alleged she's utilised her corporate card, that she had through working for the Department of Parks and Wildlife, and obtained about $30,000 on her own card,” Detective Senior Constable Henrik Wulff said.
“She's then used another employee's card to obtain about $14,000 or $15,000.
“It will be alleged we're looking at about $45,000 stolen by a government employee, so it's pretty significant.”
Detectives intercepted Jaworski at a WA airport, as she and her boyfriend, Kevin Douglas Reay, flew in from Adelaide.
The police allegedly found 14 grams of methylamphetamine concealed in Reay's underpants.
Ms Jaworski resigned following her arrest.
Both she and her boyfriend have been released on bail.
