$2 billion short in the arm for Geelong housing industry
The Victorian Government has announced the approval of a new precinct structure plan for Armstrong Creek West in Geelong, which will see a $2 billion investment in the local building and housing industry according to State Planning Minister Matthew Guy.
“This is one of the fastest growing areas in Australia and will be instrumental in enhancing the liveability of the Geelong area by providing affordable homes for local families,” Mr Guy said.
Located on the southern edge of Geelong, Armstrong Creek West will accommodate 5,800 new homes with significant areas of open space including parkland, running and cycling tracks and community facilities.
The Armstrong Creek Urban Growth Area will ultimately accommodate up to 60,000 people and provide approximately 22,000 jobs in the largest contiguous growth area in Victoria.
The planning scheme amendment was progressed as a ministerial amendment, at Greater Geelong City Council’s request.
