Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation (YYNAC) is currently seeking a Human Resources Officer to be based at our head-office. You will be responsble for staff dispersed in 3 to 4 locations in Victoria. The office is is approximately 25 minute drive from the holiday resort town of Echuca on the beautiful Murray River.  

The Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation (YYNAC) was established in 1998 to represent the descendants of the original Yorta Yorta peoples. The YYNAC has maintained its status as a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) under the Cultural Heritage Act since 2007. It has multiple parts to the organisation in cultural, education, tourism, agriculture, hospitality and employment. 

About the Role

This role would suit an ambitious HR profesional to start as an HR Officer and grow into an HR Manager position in the next 3 years. Its an opportunity to join our growing and dynamic organisation at the forefront of cultural, tourism, environment and land management.

On the job training will be provided by YYNAC with guidance and mentoring available from experienced HR Professionals.

This role is responsible for, but not limited to, the following accountabilities in line with the organisation's strategic plan. Accountabilities may change at any time, subject to business needs.

  • Coordinate the day-to-day human resource requirements of YYNAC
  • Provide support and guidance to Managers in relation to staffing matters in consultation with external consultants as required
  • Proactively foster a positive workplace culture to facilitate staff retention and quality outcomes for staff and YYNAC
  • Administer all HR systems and processes to ensure accuracy of information and best practice including OHS and industrial relations.

Skills and Experience

  • YYNAC seeks a tertiary qualified HR professional with 2 - 3 years experience but will consider a candidate with more experience and/or Diploma level qualifications
  • Knowledge and/or work experience in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is preferred and/or a demonstrated understanding/commitment to OHS
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate and develop relationships across all levels of the organisation
  • Commitment and understanding to confidentiality and privacy principles
  • Demonstrable ability to treat all matters with fairness and equity.
