The State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) is looking for a Senior Policy Officer to join one of our policy teams!

About Us

This is an exciting opportunity to work in our State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) which regulates three statutory insurance schemes in NSW. This role sits in the Home Building Compensation Regulation Directorate which is responsible for compulsory consumer-protection insurance in the residential building industry (the ‘home building compensation scheme’).

Your responsibilities will include:

  •  Monitor, research, analyse and review emerging policy and legislative issues.
  •  Prepare advice for the SIRA Chief Executive, Minister and Cabinet where required, including data-driven insights.
  •  Prepare briefs, submissions, reports and correspondence.
  •  Manage or participate in projects.
  •  Grow relationships in SIRA and across government, with other jurisdictions and stakeholders.

About you:

  •  A background in public policy or related fields (such as behavioural science, law, social research, economics or government / industry liaison).
  •  An excellent writer. You can readily distil complex ideas into plain English.
  •  Good interpersonal communication. You enjoy collaborating with colleagues and engaging with stakeholders.
  •  Innately curious. You are an analytical thinker who can use data to solve complex problems.
  •  Are committed to learning a new subject area and building legislative policy skills.
