We enable a safe space for all users to have the best library experience at all ages and have an incredibly rich calendar of learning and cultural programs throughout our network inclusive of the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre, our 16 community branches and 2 mobiles libraries across 4 local government areas.

The role

This position is available within the Executive Leadership Team due to the incumbent moving to a different senior portfolio in the organisation.

You have autonomy and complete support to plan and future-proof GRLC to continue to serve and impact our community. To do so, you influence and guide all strategy, planning and implementation of world class services across our network, from the landmark Geelong Library and Heritage Centre in Geelong’s Cultural Precinct to libraries across the Geelong Region. As GRLC continues to transform, this is a very exciting time to be joining a high-achieving library team.

You

As an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team, strong strategic decision-making skills are essential as is extensive experience in people management, seamless implementation of planning and operations, change management and appreciation of the role of public libraries in communities.

Under the leadership of a committed CEO, the potential to impact and make your mark is limitless, with responsibilities ranging from:

  • Deliver exemplary customer service, lifelong-learning programs and major projects (we are number one in the State for a reason);
  • Provide leadership in all aspects of Library Services and Customer Experience including services delivered via the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre (GLHC), library branch network, mobile libraries, community library service, outreach activity, lifelong learning programs and events;
  • Through your sound advice and active contribution, enable the Corporation’s strategic vision and direction to be achieved through the provision of exemplary leadership, guidance and support on all Library and Learning Services matters;
  • Work closely with your team and more broadly the Strategic Leadership Team to empower them in their life-long professional development.
