About us

Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is an integrated transport infrastructure and precincts planning project that will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, as well as investment in the suburbs, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is the statutory body established to plan all elements of the project, procure builders, develop structure planning for SRL Precincts and oversee construction and the other changes that will help transform Melbourne and Victoria.

About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Senior IT Project Manager to manage projects from inception to implementation and smoothly transition them into the support phase. The projects will be broad and varied, and will include projects that involve software selection, software implementation, cloud migration and managing the technical aspects of moving into new premises. You will work as part of a dynamic team, as well as lead a small team of Business Analysts, Technical Lead and key project stakeholders.

Reporting to the IT Program Manager, you will play a pivotal role in:

  • Taking ownership of specific projects, with primary responsibility for achieving expected outcomes according to agreed deliverables, scope, schedule, budget and quality standards
  • Providing overall guidance for the project team comprising architecture and engineering subject matter experts and business and third-party representatives
  • Planning, scheduling and executing projects, ensuring project plans, schedules and reporting are aligned with project management office framework and governance
  • Engaging with multiple stakeholders across the internal business groups to deliver strategic projects and business solutions to proactively improve the maturity, capability and resilience of the IT Program function
  • Ensuring plans, schedules and tasks are continually reviewed and improved throughout the project lifecycle to production transition
  • Identifying issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions maintaining effective stakeholder communications and engagement
  • Developing and overseeing change and communications artifacts and plan for seamless delivery and execution of project on impacted users

This is a permanent, full-time role. You will work in a hybrid work model with access to a range of flexible working arrangements.

About you

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to enthusiastically lead, coach, guide and motivate the project team
  • Extensive experience working in agile and advance projects delivery methodologies with a thorough understanding of information and communications technology and its application to business
  • Experience developing formal documentation associated with project management including business cases
  • Experience managing similar transition and transformation projects 
  • Industry project management methodology experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding customer relationship and influencing skills
  • Exceptional project management and continuous improvement skills
