Manager Accounts Payable

An exciting opportunity exists for a Manager, Accounts Payable to join MRPV leading a team delivering accounts payable and purchasing services to stakeholders across the organisation. This is an important role which oversees the integrity and consistency of financial transaction management within the departmental financial control environment.

Other accountabilities include

  •  Lead a team delivering purchasing and accounts payable services, advice, and financial reporting to a range of stakeholders across MRPV.
  • Manage the maintenance, revisions and implementations of all Accounts Payable related policy and procedure.
  •  Oversee compliance review activities, including supplier due diligence processes, independent contractor assessments, insurance and indemnity reviews.
  • Utilise data analysis software to monitor and report back on financial control effectively and support identification and implementation of control Improvements.
  • Lead the engagement with MRPVs procurement team, accounts payable and external stakeholders to support seamless procure to pay processes.
  • Engage with external and internal auditors on enquiries relating to purchasing and accounts payable matters.
  • Monitor contract funds availability using accrual and project forecast data and liaise with contract manger to understand future requirements.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have strong business acumen, well developed leadership and interpersonal skills and a proactive nature with strong attention to detail. In this role, you will have staff reporting to you so it is essential to have experience managing a small team. You will demonstrate the ability to provide specialist purchasing and accounts support services, including an in-depth knowledge of accounting standards and the application of effective purchasing controls, as well as the ability to use enterprise resource planning and financial reporting systems, including Oracle, Microsoft Office, data analytics applications and electronic records management systems. You will be an excellent communicator and a quick thinker, making sound decisions that suit the business within a timely manner and also have an influential and friendly manner to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

It is highly desirable that you hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance and/or Business with an understanding of Victorian Government financial policies and processes.
